Issue Four: Rotten
Rotten is a word of many definitions ranging from poor moral performance to food overtaken by mold. But does it have to be all bad? Sure, going for some milk and realizing it's turned is a pretty depressing experience, but on the other hand, finding a well developed delicious moldy cheese can be heaven. What dictates the good and bad of rotting foods and how do we know when they are truly beyond salvaging? From fermented kimchis to body scarification and tattooing, there are tons of things that would conventionally be frowned up but in practice result in beautiful art, food, and cross-cultural experiences. In this issue we will explore rotten foods such as fermented drinks and the infamous stinky tofu, fringe and counter culture practices and much much more. Join us for some stinky, moldy, rotten good times.
